2	2		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3		recognize Javier Norberto Garcia on the grand occasion of his
4	4		75th birthday and to honor him for his outstanding service to his
5	5		community, county, and country; and
6		-	WHEREAS, Javier Norberto Garcia was born on April 12, ~~1948~~,
	6	+	WHEREAS, Javier Norberto Garcia was born on April 12, 1947,
7	7		in Alice; after attending schools in the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco
8	8		Consolidated Independent School District and graduating in 1966,
9	9		Javier enlisted in the National Guard and served his country with
10	10		honor and distinction for 22 years; and
11	11		WHEREAS, A man of strength and determination, Javier
12	12		served his community in addition to his military service by
13	13		becoming an educator with the Alice Independent School District;
14	14		he led a rewarding career as a teacher for 20 years, and he was
15	15		elected to the board of the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Consolidated
16	16		Independent School District and served for 10 years; and
17	17		WHEREAS, Throughout his life, this exemplary citizen and
18	18		distinguished veteran has embodied the traits of selflessness
19	19		and devotion to service, dedicating himself to helping others and
20	20		to serving as a voice for those around him; he served on the Jim
21	21		Wells County Appraisal District Board of Directors for 32 years
22	22		and served as Jim Wells County commissioner, for Precinct Four
23	23		for 24 years; and
24	24		WHEREAS, During his time as county commissioner, Javier
25	25		collaborated with nonprofit organizations, including Community
26	26		Action Corporation of South Texas, to establish parks in Ben Bolt
27	27		and in Palito Blanco; he gave generously of his time and energy to
28	28		provide services and meals for the elderly in Jim Wells County,
29	29		and he is truly deserving of special recognition for all that he
30	30		has done to care for others and to strengthen his community; now,
31	31		therefore, be it
32	32		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
33	33		Legislature, hereby commend Javier Norberto Garcia on his many
34	34		achievements and on his outstanding contributions to the
35	35		well-being and prosperity of his community and of the Lone Star
36	36		State and extend to him best wishes for much joy and fulfillment
37	37		in the years ahead; and, be it further
38	38		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	39		him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
