| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Alamo city commissioner Maria Del Pilar Garza has |

| 3 | 3 | | dedicated her career to public service and has selflessly given |

| 4 | 4 | | of her time and talents to benefit her fellow citizens; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Alamo, Pilar Garza enjoyed a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | nearly 40-year-long career with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Independent School District, during which time she served as a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | teacher, counselor, principal, assistant principal, and central |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | office administrator; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Seeking additional opportunities to give back to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | her community, Ms. Garza has demonstrated strong leadership as a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | member of the Alamo Board of Commissioners for the past 12 years; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she has also served as a board member for the Alamo Economic |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Development Corporation and the Friends of the Alamo Museum; in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | addition, she has volunteered her time for many sports and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | recreation programs created by the Alamo Parks and Recreation |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Department, and she has been an active member of the Resurrection |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Catholic Church; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Commissioner Garza has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enjoyed the love and support of her family, including her three |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sons, Felix, Froy, and Fabian; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Pilar Garza has rendered exemplary service to the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | city of Alamo through her work as a city commissioner and through |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | her many other roles, and she may take satisfaction in knowing |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | that her achievements have made a positive and lasting difference |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in her community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby honor Maria Del Pilar Garza for her many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | years of service to the city of Alamo and extend to her sincere |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
