| 6 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mary Magdalene Davis was born on May 6, 1923, in |

| 7 | 11 | | Centerville to Haywood Davis and Mary Hannah of Leon County; as a |

| 8 | 12 | | young woman, Mary moved to the Roosevelt Heights community of |
|---|
| 9 | 13 | | South Dallas, and she devoted herself to helping and providing |

| 10 | 14 | | for her family, friends, and the members of her community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mary is a beloved matriarch and an exemplary |

| 12 | 16 | | citizen who delights in serving others; she has been an active |
|---|
| 13 | 17 | | worker in the church throughout her life and has dedicated her |
|---|
| 14 | 18 | | time and energy to spreading messages of faith and love to those |
|---|
| 15 | 19 | | she has encountered through her endeavors; and |
|---|
| 16 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A woman of virtue and grace, Mary is a blessing to |

| 17 | 21 | | her family and to her Dallas community; she has played an |
|---|
| 18 | 22 | | instrumental role in the educational and spiritual development |
|---|
| 19 | 23 | | of her nieces and nephews, and she has been a source of support, |
|---|
| 20 | 24 | | encouragement, and guidance in the lives of countless others; and |

| 21 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A treasured Texan and a cherished member of her |

| 22 | 26 | | family and community, Mary has lived through times and events |
|---|
| 23 | 27 | | that most people only read about in history books, and there is |
|---|
| 24 | 28 | | much to be learned from the wisdom she has gained over the years; |

| 25 | 29 | | it is indeed fitting that her friends and loved ones gather to |
