55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
77 passing of Sharon Lillian McCormack of Prosper on June 20, 2022, at
88 the age of 80; and
99 WHEREAS, The former Sharon Bennett was born to Archie and
1010 Lillian Bennett in Santa Monica, California, on January 21, 1942,
1111 and she grew up on a farm in Vernon Center, Minnesota, with the
1212 companionship of a brother, Larry; in 1963, she was joined in
1313 matrimony to Clark McCormack, with whom she shared a fulfilling
1414 union that spanned 58 years; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mrs. McCormack earned a degree in home economics
1616 from Mankato State University, and she went on to work as a teacher
1717 in Madelia, Minnesota; she later moved with her husband to
1818 Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio before settling in Texas; and
1919 WHEREAS, This beloved woman was the proud mother of three
2020 children, Mitchell, Jill, and Kevin, and with the passing years,
2121 she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to include four
2222 grandchildren, Mitch, Dylan, Bailey, and Nico; and
2323 WHEREAS, Engaged in her community, Mrs. McCormack was a
2424 passionate supporter of the Republican Party, and she held various
2525 positions in the organization, including election judge and
2626 precinct chair; she was active in the party at the local, state, and
2727 national levels, and she had the honor of attending two
2828 presidential inaugurations; a woman of faith, she was a valued
2929 congregant of First United Methodist Church in Gainesville; and
3030 WHEREAS, Although Sharon McCormack is greatly missed,
3131 memories of her grace, her joyous zest for life, and her deep
3232 devotion to her family remain to comfort and inspire those she
3333 leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
3535 hereby pay tribute to the life of Sharon Lillian McCormack and
3636 extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it
3737 further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
4040 day, it do so in memory of Sharon McCormack.
