6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
---|
7 | 7 | | passing of Sharon Lillian McCormack of Prosper on June 20, 2022, at |
---|
8 | 8 | | the age of 80; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Sharon Bennett was born to Archie and |
---|
10 | 10 | | Lillian Bennett in Santa Monica, California, on January 21, 1942, |
---|
11 | 11 | | and she grew up on a farm in Vernon Center, Minnesota, with the |
---|
12 | 12 | | companionship of a brother, Larry; in 1963, she was joined in |
---|
13 | 13 | | matrimony to Clark McCormack, with whom she shared a fulfilling |
---|
14 | 14 | | union that spanned 58 years; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. McCormack earned a degree in home economics |
---|
16 | 16 | | from Mankato State University, and she went on to work as a teacher |
---|
17 | 17 | | in Madelia, Minnesota; she later moved with her husband to |
---|
18 | 18 | | Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio before settling in Texas; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This beloved woman was the proud mother of three |
---|
20 | 20 | | children, Mitchell, Jill, and Kevin, and with the passing years, |
---|
21 | 21 | | she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to include four |
---|
22 | 22 | | grandchildren, Mitch, Dylan, Bailey, and Nico; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in her community, Mrs. McCormack was a |
---|
24 | 24 | | passionate supporter of the Republican Party, and she held various |
---|
25 | 25 | | positions in the organization, including election judge and |
---|
26 | 26 | | precinct chair; she was active in the party at the local, state, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | national levels, and she had the honor of attending two |
---|
28 | 28 | | presidential inaugurations; a woman of faith, she was a valued |
---|
29 | 29 | | congregant of First United Methodist Church in Gainesville; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Sharon McCormack is greatly missed, |
---|
31 | 31 | | memories of her grace, her joyous zest for life, and her deep |
---|
32 | 32 | | devotion to her family remain to comfort and inspire those she |
---|
33 | 33 | | leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
---|
35 | 35 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Sharon Lillian McCormack and |
---|
36 | 36 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it |
---|
37 | 37 | | further |

38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
39 | 39 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
---|
40 | 40 | | day, it do so in memory of Sharon McCormack. |
