5	5	WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Samuel Felix Mixon of
6	6	Galveston on September 16, 2022, at the age of 14, has brought a
7	7	tremendous loss to his family and many friends; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Houston on November 28, 2007, to devoted
9	9	parents Kathryn and Scott Mixon, Sam Mixon was likewise adored by
10	10	his older siblings, Kaitlyn and Sully; he embraced his adopted
11	11	hometown of Galveston, where he had graduated from Trinity
12	12	Episcopal School and recently begun his freshman year at Ball
13	13	High School; he was a warm and friendly young man with a
14	14	contagious smile and a wonderful sense of humor, and he endeared
15	15	himself to a wide circle of friends, some of whom he had known
16	16	since birth; and
17	17	WHEREAS, A natural athlete, Sam excelled at baseball,
18	18	basketball, soccer, skateboarding, and skimboarding, but he was
19	19	most passionate about fishing; he had fond memories of going to
20	20	Camp Longhorn during the summer and took great pleasure in
21	21	boating with his friends; moreover, he had a keen ability to
22	22	bring others together, and he was admired by everyone around him
23	23	for his big heart and his kind and gentle nature; his faith was
24	24	also an important part of his life, and he was baptized in the
25	25	open waters of Galveston, a place that had always held such
26	26	meaning for him; and
27	27	WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Sam Mixon
28	28	leaves behind countless people whose lives are far richer for
29	29	having known him, and they will forever cherish their memories of
30	30	this beloved young man; now, therefore, be it
31	31	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
32	32	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Samuel Felix Mixon
33	33	and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to
34	34	his parents, Kathryn and Scott Mixon; to his siblings, Kaitlyn
35	35	and Sully Mixon; to his grandparents, Cindy and John Lee
36	36	Sullivan; to his aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Hanlon and her
37	37	husband, Chris, Rocky Sullivan and his wife, Kelsi, and Michelle
38	38	Leslie and her husband, George; to his cousins, Sarah and Abbey
39	39	Hanlon, James and John Sullivan, Marcell Drago Leslie, Marcella
40	40	Tudeen and her husband, Mike, Kelley and George Georgiades,
41	41	Kristen and John Berger, Todd and Sarah Sullivan, Johnny and
42	42	Sydney Sullivan, and Billy and Jocelyn Sullivan; to his
43	43	step-grandmother, Karen Mixon; to his great-uncle, Gerald
44	44	Sullivan, and his wife, Susanne; and to his numerous other
45	45	relatives and friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
48	48	this day, it do so in memory of Sam Mixon.
