| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael Culling retired from the |

| 3 | 3 | | Manvel Municipal Court in November 2022, drawing to a close a |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | distinguished career that has spanned five and a half decades; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, After graduating with honors from the University |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Dallas, Mr. Culling earned his law degree in 1967 from The |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | University of Texas at Austin; he then took a position in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | contracts division of the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Houston, and he later worked for an oil and gas company before |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | setting up a private practice in Deer Park; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In 1974, Mr. Culling was sworn in as the presiding |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | judge of Deer Park Municipal Court, and he has served as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | presiding judge for the City of Manvel since 1996; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Culling has contributed to his professional |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community as a member of the council for the Municipal Judges |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Brazoria County and Houston Bar Associations; he has also given |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | generously of his time and talents to the Alvin-Manvel Area |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Chamber of Commerce and to the Deer Park Rotary Club, Jaycees, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Culling benefits from |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the love and support of his wife, Jan; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his years of service, Michael Culling |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | has distinguished himself through his exceptional skill and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | dedication, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | spent as he looks forward to the next exciting chapter of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Judge Michael Culling on his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | retirement from the Manvel Municipal Court and extend to him |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 33 | 33 | | prepared for Mr. Culling as an expression of high regard from the |
