6 | 6 | | Pistone of Galveston were deeply saddened by his passing on |

7 | 7 | | January 8, 2022, at the age of 68; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A proud third-generation native of Galveston |
---|
9 | 9 | | Island, Michael Pistone was born to John and Priscilla Pistone on |
---|
10 | 10 | | November 3, 1953; he grew up with three siblings, Anthony, Mark, |
---|
11 | 11 | | and Paul, and he graduated from Ball High School; he began |
---|
12 | 12 | | working at Sea-Arama Marineworld as a teenager, ultimately |
---|
13 | 13 | | earning a promotion to food operations supervisor for the entire |
---|
14 | 14 | | park; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Embarking on a career of over 40 years in the |
---|
16 | 16 | | hospitality industry, Mr. Pistone became known for his |
---|
17 | 17 | | leadership skills and the relationships he built with employees; |
---|
18 | 18 | | as a general manager, he developed his last property into a AAA |
---|
19 | 19 | | Four Diamond resort; he was a founding member of the Galveston |
---|
20 | 20 | | Hotel & Lodging Association, serving on its executive board for |
---|
21 | 21 | | many years, and he sat on the Arts and Historical Preservation |
---|
22 | 22 | | Advisory Board, the Grand 1894 Opera House advisory board, and |
---|
23 | 23 | | the Galveston Park Board of Trustees; most recently, he received |
---|
24 | 24 | | the Galveston Tourism Industry Lifetime of Service Achievement |
---|
25 | 25 | | Award; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Above all, Mr. Pistone treasured time spent with |
---|
27 | 27 | | his family; he and his wife, Theresa, shared a rewarding marriage |
---|
28 | 28 | | of more than four decades, and he took great pride in their two |
---|
29 | 29 | | children, Amanda and Kathryn, and five grandchildren; he also |
---|
30 | 30 | | adored his pets, Lucy and Sofia; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Michael Pistone lived a life that was rich in |
---|
32 | 32 | | personal and professional achievements, and he will forever be a |
---|
33 | 33 | | source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, |
---|

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Michael Charles |

37 | 37 | | Pistone and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his |

38 | 38 | | family: to his wife, Theresa Hardee Pistone; to his daughters, |

39 | 39 | | Amanda Pistone and Kathryn Pistone; to his grandchildren, |

40 | 40 | | Olivia, Dylan, Lachlan, Ansley, and Finley; to his brothers, Mark |
