5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a rich and rewarding life remain to |

6 | 6 | | comfort the family and friends of Patricia Ann LeMay Hocking of |
---|
7 | 7 | | La Marque, who passed away on January 19, 2022, at the age of 75; |
---|
8 | 8 | | and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Patti LeMay was born in Houston on |
---|
10 | 10 | | September 16, 1946; she fell in love with ballet at an early age |
---|
11 | 11 | | and danced professionally with the Houston Ballet; following her |
---|
12 | 12 | | graduation from Incarnate Word Academy in downtown Houston, she |
---|
13 | 13 | | married Bobby Hocking and moved with him to Bee Cave, where she |
---|
14 | 14 | | opened and operated the first of two dance studios; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After Bee Cave was incorporated in 1987, |
---|
16 | 16 | | Mr. Hocking was elected as the town's first mayor, and |
---|
17 | 17 | | Mrs. Hocking supported her husband unstintingly throughout his |
---|
18 | 18 | | tenure in office; she went on to travel internationally with her |
---|
19 | 19 | | husband during his career as a musician, and they later |
---|
20 | 20 | | co-pastored a number of churches in Oklahoma and Texas; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Returning to public service, Mr. Hocking |
---|
22 | 22 | | successfully ran for the office of mayor of La Marque in 2011; |
---|
23 | 23 | | Mrs. Hocking enthusiastically settled into her new home, where |
---|
24 | 24 | | she once again embraced her role as first lady; she was also a |
---|
25 | 25 | | member of the La Marque Garden Club and impressed her neighbors |
---|
26 | 26 | | with her talent for gardening; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Hocking enjoyed the |
---|
28 | 28 | | love and support of her husband, their three children, Clover, |
---|
29 | 29 | | Heather, and Rob, and several grandchildren; she was devoted to |
---|
30 | 30 | | her family, her faith, and her community, and she endeared |
---|
31 | 31 | | herself to countless people with her kind heart and generous |
---|
32 | 32 | | nature; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Patti Hocking was an inspiration to all who had |
---|
34 | 34 | | the good fortune to know her, and she will forever be remembered |
---|
35 | 35 | | with deep admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Patricia Ann LeMay |
---|
38 | 38 | | Hocking and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn her |
---|
39 | 39 | | passing; and, be it further |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

41 | 41 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
