No. 499 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Brazos County Health District, which recently held its second annual open house event on April 13, 2023, with a focus on centering and celebrating cultures in health; and WHEREAS, The Brazos County Health District is dedicated to its mission of preventing disease, protecting life, and promoting healthy lifestyles; located in Bryan, the organization employs a devoted staff who work to serve the residents of Brazos County by providing an array of health care services, health-related permitting, and public health resources and planning; and WHEREAS, In addition to the comprehensive range of environmental and community health services offered to the public, the Brazos County Health District operates an emergency preparedness response division, which plans and coordinates response efforts that can be deployed in the event of disease outbreak or public health issues resulting from natural or man-made disasters; and WHEREAS, The Brazos County Health District also serves the community through its outreach team, which works to develop and implement educational programs focusing on a variety of public health topics; members of the outreach team coordinate educational sessions that are held at various locations to best serve the needs of the community, and staff engage in collaborative outreach efforts that provide the public with health-related resources and help to create healthier communities; and WHEREAS, A vital contributor to public health in the region, the Brazos County Health District plays an invaluable role in supporting the health and well-being of Brazos County residents, and it is indeed fitting that the organization receive special recognition on its outstanding public service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby commend the Brazos County Health District on its many contributions to public health in the Lone Star State and extend to its leaders and staff best wishes for continued success in their important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Brazos County Health District as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
