5- WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with
6- the passing of Dorothy Sue Spruell of White Oak on April 20, 2023,

6+ WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
7+ passing of Dorothy Sue Spruell of White Oak on April 20, 2023, at
8+ the age of 93; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Glen and Vera Wilson, Sue Spruell
910 grew up sharing in the companionship of a sister, Glenda; she
10- graduated with honors from Gladewater High School and continued
11- her education at Kilgore College; she subsequently embarked on a
12- rewarding career that included a stint with the U.S. government
13- in New Mexico and a 25-year tenure as an office manager and tax

1516 WHEREAS, In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart,
1617 Robert Samuel Spruell, and the couple shared nearly six decades
17- together, until Mr. Spruell's passing in 2008; Mrs. Spruell was
18- a devoted mother to her three children, Susan, Bob, and Teri, and
19- with the passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her
20- family grow to include five grandchildren, Billy, Cody, Lacie,
21- Brian, and Brittani, and eight great-grandchildren, Kailyn,
22- Peyton, Kyla, Abigail, Sophia, Vera, West, and Bennet; her life
23- was further enriched by her shih tzus Katie and, later, Abby, her
24- cat Golden, and the many other beloved dogs, cats, and birds that
25- she and her family took in; and
26- WHEREAS, In retirement, Mrs. Spruell and her husband
27- enjoyed spending time with their family and traveling; her
28- favorite pastimes included quilting, working in her greenhouse,
29- and going to garage sales; moreover, she was a valued congregant
30- of White Oak Baptist Church, and she gave generously to her
31- church, as well as to her children, grandchildren, and
32- great-grandchildren, and to many charities; and
18+ together, until Mr. Spruell's passing in 2008; Mrs. Spruell was a
19+ devoted mother to her three children, Susan, Bob, and Teri, and with
20+ the passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her family grow

36- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Sue
38- Spruell and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
39- family: to her children, Susan Terry and her husband, Steve, Bob
40- Spruell and his wife, Cindy, and Teri Pfau and her husband,
41- Kevin; to her grandchildren, Billy Terry, Cody Terry and his
42- wife, Jessica, Lacie Schwartz and her husband, Stephen, Brian
43- Pfau, and Brittani Larsen and her husband, Daniel; to her
44- great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Peyton, Kyla, Abigail, Sophia, and
45- Vera Terry, West Schwartz, and Bennet Larsen; and to her other
46- relatives and friends; and, be it further
35+ who held her dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness she
36+ brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
37+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
38+ hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Sue Spruell and extend
39+ sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her children,
40+ Susan Terry and her husband, Steve, Bob Spruell and his wife, Cindy,
41+ and Teri Pfau and her husband, Kevin; to her grandchildren, Billy
42+ Terry, Cody Terry and his wife, Jessica, Lacie Schwartz and her
43+ husband, Steven, Brian Pfau, and Brittani Larsen and her husband,
44+ Daniel; to her great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Peyton, Kyla, Abigail,
45+ Sophia, and Vera Terry, West Schwartz, and Bennet Larsen; and to her
46+ other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4747 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
48- prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
49- this day, it do so in memory of Sue Spruell.
