88R27376 BK-D By: Eckhardt S.R. No. 522 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dale W. Wilson demonstrated remarkable skill and dedication when he came to the aid of a man suffering from a heart attack on April 17, 2023; and WHEREAS, A registered nurse, Mr. Wilson was off duty and driving on Interstate 35 when he saw a truck swerve and collide with the concrete barrier along the freeway; he quickly pulled over his own vehicle and rushed to the scene of the accident, where he found the driver slumped over in his seat; and WHEREAS, After freeing the driver from the truck, Mr. Wilson began performing CPR as he waited for emergency medical services to arrive; he later learned that his swift action had saved the life of the motorist, who had experienced a heart attack while driving; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson is a mental health nurse and the director of quality management at Austin State Hospital, where he has been employed for more than 15 years; his exceptional skills as a nurse have been instrumental in improving patient outcomes and have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and WHEREAS, In saving the life of a fellow citizen, Dale Wilson drew upon his experience in nursing and demonstrated the compassion, proficiency, and commitment to the well-being of others for which those in his profession are known, and it is indeed fitting that he be honored for his selfless act of heroism; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Dale W. Wilson for his lifesaving actions on April 17, 2023, and recognize him for his exemplary contributions to health care in his community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Wilson as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
