| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dale W. Wilson demonstrated remarkable skill and |
|---|
| 3 | 3 | | dedication when he came to the aid of a man suffering from a heart |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | attack on April 17, 2023; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A registered nurse, Mr. Wilson was off duty and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | driving on Interstate 35 when he saw a truck swerve and collide |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | with the concrete barrier along the freeway; he quickly pulled |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | over his own vehicle and rushed to the scene of the accident, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | where he found the driver slumped over in his seat; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After freeing the driver from the truck, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mr. Wilson began performing CPR as he waited for emergency |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | medical services to arrive; he later learned that his swift |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | action had saved the life of the motorist, who had experienced a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | heart attack while driving; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson is a mental health nurse and the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | director of quality management at Austin State Hospital, where |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he has been employed for more than 15 years; his exceptional |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | skills as a nurse have been instrumental in improving patient |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | outcomes and have earned him the respect and admiration of his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | colleagues; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In saving the life of a fellow citizen, Dale |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Wilson drew upon his experience in nursing and demonstrated the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | compassion, proficiency, and commitment to the well-being of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | others for which those in his profession are known, and it is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | indeed fitting that he be honored for his selfless act of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | heroism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dale W. Wilson for his lifesaving |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | actions on April 17, 2023, and recognize him for his exemplary |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | contributions to health care in his community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 32 | 32 | | prepared for Mr. Wilson as an expression of high regard from the |
