| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Youth Empowerment Services, Inc., a nonprofit |

| 3 | 3 | | organization dedicated to improving education in San Antonio and |

| 4 | 4 | | throughout the United States, celebrated its 28th anniversary on |

| 5 | 5 | | January 20, 2023; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Founded in San Antonio on January 20, 1995, YES, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Inc., was originally established as a program designed to keep |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | children and young adults engaged during the summer months; the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | summer program eventually evolved into a charter school that |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | remained in operation for 16 years; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In 2010, YES, Inc., embarked on its current |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | mission to provide high-quality training to educators, and it has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | since focused on helping teachers become more effective so that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | their students can improve academically; it has successfully |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | trained more than 1,000 educators and has been awarded over $100 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | million in state and federal grant funds; the organization has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | consistently provided employment to residents, recruited |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | numerous teachers to area schools, and assisted many students by |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | offering additional educational training and support; in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | addition, it annually donates items such as school supplies, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | blankets, clothing, and food to various homeless shelters and to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | holiday events within the community; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Youth Empowerment |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Services has made a meaningful difference in the lives of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | countless educators and students, and it is indeed deserving of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the 28th anniversary of Youth |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Empowerment Services, Inc., and extend to all those involved |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
