3 | 3 | | retiring from the United States Army on March 1, 2024, concluding |

4 | 4 | | a distinguished military career that has spanned more than three |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gerardo Gonzalez currently serves as the garrison |

7 | 7 | | command sergeant major at Fort Bliss in El Paso; over the course |
---|
8 | 8 | | of his enlistment, he has deployed on numerous occasions in |
---|
9 | 9 | | support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, |
---|
10 | 10 | | Operation New Dawn, and various contingency operations |
---|
11 | 11 | | worldwide; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, CSM Gonzalez joined the U.S. Army in 1992; |
---|
13 | 13 | | following his completion of basic training at Fort Sill, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Oklahoma, he was assigned to the 355th Medical Company, Army |
---|
15 | 15 | | Reserve at Fort Bliss; he entered active duty in 1993 and |
---|
16 | 16 | | underwent advanced training as a scout helicopter repairer at |
---|
17 | 17 | | Fort Eustis, Virginia; he went on to graduate from the resident |
---|
18 | 18 | | sergeants major course, the first sergeant course, and the senior |
---|
19 | 19 | | leaders, advance leaders, and primary leadership courses; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Selected to serve in the 160th Special Operations |
---|
21 | 21 | | Aviation Regiment, CSM Gonzalez was assigned in 1998 to the |
---|
22 | 22 | | 1-160th SOAR (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; there, he |
---|
23 | 23 | | held such leadership roles as crew chief, flight platoon |
---|
24 | 24 | | sergeant, and first sergeant of the Light Attack Helicopter |
---|
25 | 25 | | Company and the Aviation Maintenance Company; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from the U.S. Army Sergeants |
---|
27 | 27 | | Major Academy, CSM Gonzalez was assigned to the 209th Aviation |
---|
28 | 28 | | Support Battalion as support operations sergeant major for the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 25th Combat Aviation Brigade; he subsequently served as command |
---|
30 | 30 | | sergeant major of the 2-6 Cavalry Regiment, Hawaii, and as CSM of |
---|
31 | 31 | | the 128th Aviation Brigade at Fort Eustis, before assuming the |
---|
32 | 32 | | post of operations sergeant major for the Noncommissioned |

33 | 33 | | Officer Professional Development Department, Noncommissioned |
---|
34 | 34 | | Officer Leadership Center of Excellence; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Gerardo Gonzalez's dedication, professionalism, |

36 | 36 | | and devotion to duty have greatly benefited his fellow Americans |

37 | 37 | | and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may |

38 | 38 | | indeed reflect with pride on his exemplary record of military |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
