SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 535
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dr. Ravi Karia, who recently received the 2023
Outstanding Faculty Mentor award from The University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio orthopedic surgery
residential program; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Karia is a renowned orthopedic surgeon at The
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; his
focus on continually developing his skill as a surgeon and on
creating a learning environment that fosters independence,
self-confidence, and trust in his students has contributed
greatly to modern medicine and has made a difference in the lives
of countless patients; and
WHEREAS, After receiving a medical degree from The
University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in
2004, Dr. Karia attended The University of Texas Health Science
Center at San Antonio, where he completed his residency in
orthopedic surgery and continued his training with a fellowship
in orthopedic trauma; Dr. Karia served as the chief
administrative resident from 2008 to 2009 and joined the
department of orthopedics as a faculty member in 2010; and
WHEREAS, The chief residents of The University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio orthopedic surgery
residential program nominated Dr. Karia to receive the 2023
Outstanding Faculty Mentor award; an exceptional physician and a
passionate educator, Dr. Karia has dedicated himself to the
mission of creating a welcoming and inspiring learning
environment and to guiding future generations of orthopedic
surgeons on the path of excellence; and
WHEREAS, Respected and admired as a surgeon and teacher,
Dr. Karia has brought hope and healing to many Texans while
serving as a role model to numerous orthopedic residents; he sets
the highest standards for medical education and health care in
the Lone Star State, and he is truly deserving of recognition for
his contributions to orthopedic medicine; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Ravi Karia on receiving the 2023
Outstanding Faculty Mentor award from the chief residents of The
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
orthopedic surgery residential program; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
