| 4 | 4 | | event at the historic Texas State Capitol on May 10, 2023; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, BAPS is an international spiritual organization |

| 6 | 6 | | dedicated to peace and harmony; the group strives to care for the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | world by caring for societies, families, and individuals, and it |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | operates BAPS Charities, a nonprofit that promotes community |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | service; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, BAPS is a prominent Hindu organization in Texas; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | its members serve their communities under the guidance and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | example of the group's spiritual leader, His Holiness Mahant |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Swami Maharaj, and through the wisdom of his predecessor, His |

| 14 | 14 | | Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who often said, "In the joy of |

| 15 | 15 | | others, lies our own"; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Celebration of Selfless Service in Texas |

| 17 | 17 | | recognizes the myriad spiritual, socioeconomic, and cultural |

| 18 | 18 | | contributions that BAPS and the wider Indian American community |

| 19 | 19 | | have made to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and His |

| 22 | 22 | | Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on the organization's commitment |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to selfless service in communities across Texas and the nation |

| 24 | 24 | | and extend to all those associated with the group sincere |
