2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Band of the Hills on the occasion of the group's 25th
4	4	anniversary; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Formed in 1998 by 18 Cedar Park musicians, Band of
6	6	the Hills is a wind and percussion ensemble that has delighted
7	7	music lovers in Williamson County for 25 years; the band has
8	8	grown to comprise more than 100 members who span a range of ages,
9	9	occupations, and backgrounds and are connected by their love of
10	10	music; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The Band of the Hills' repertoire includes
12	12	marches, classical music, show tunes, big band orchestral
13	13	pieces, and seasonal music; participants volunteer their time
14	14	and talents at such free community events as holiday
15	15	celebrations, festivals, and formal concerts; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Through the years, Band of the Hills has brought
17	17	live entertainment and joyful music to the Austin area and to the
18	18	communities of Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, and
19	19	Pflugerville; the band is affiliated with the Cedar Park Chamber
20	20	of Commerce, the Leander Chamber of Commerce, and the National
21	21	Association of Concert Bands; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Band of the Hills is celebrating its
23	23	quarter-century anniversary with a concert on May 21, 2023, at
24	24	Vista Ridge High School Performing Arts Center in Cedar Park;
25	25	live music is an intrinsic and beloved component of Texas
26	26	culture, and Band of the Hills has continued to inspire a deep
27	27	appreciation for music by carrying on this proud tradition in
28	28	Central Texas; now, therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
30	30	Legislature, hereby commend Band of the Hills on its many
31	31	contributions to music and culture in Texas and extend to the band's
32	32	musicians and to the event's attendees best wishes for a memorable
33	33	and enjoyable 25th anniversary concert; and, be it further
34	34	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
35	35	the band as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
