 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join the members of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in
 recognizing the elder mothers of the congregation on the occasion
 of the church's Mother's Day celebration; and
 WHEREAS, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will host
 its special Mother's Day celebration to honor the remarkable
 women who have embodied the highest virtues of responsible and
 loving parenting, and who have dedicated their time and energy to
 serving their families and ministering to the physical,
 emotional, and spiritual needs of their descendants; and
 WHEREAS, Golden Mothers Maggie Neal, 96 years old, and
 Carrie Allyson, 93 years old, exemplify strength, perseverance,
 and wisdom to their younger spiritual sisters, and Platinum
 Mother Addie Edwards, 84 years old, is a source of light and
 wisdom to newer mothers in her congregation; and
 WHEREAS, Bobbie Blakemore, 78, recipient of the
 Great-Grandmother Award, raises her three great-grandchildren;
 she feeds, bathes, and clothes them, takes them to school, and
 makes sure that they attend church and participate in
 extracurricular activities; Janice Evans, 83, is a mother,
 grandmother, and great-grandmother who helps care for her
 grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Bobbie Rockmore is a grandmother who helps her
 daughter care for Bobbie's special-needs grandson, and Brenda
 Davis, 72, cares for her grandchildren when her daughter is at
 work; Nancy Pearl, 71, Anna Chappell, 72, and Alice Cleavery, 80,
 also are loving mothers and inspirational figures to the church
 mothers; and
 WHEREAS, These illustrious women of faith have labored
 tirelessly and sacrificed selflessly for the good of the
 generations that came after them, and it is indeed fitting that
 they receive special recognition for empowering later
 generations of women to be capable and strong mothers through
 their individual testimonies; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
 Legislature, hereby commend the outstanding elder mothers of
 Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for imparting invaluable
 lessons to their loved ones and extend to all in the congregation
 best wishes for a memorable and rewarding Mother's Day
 celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the elder mothers of the church as an expression of esteem from
 the Texas Senate.
