| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the members of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in |

| 4 | 4 | | recognizing the elder mothers of the congregation on the occasion |

| 5 | 5 | | of the church's Mother's Day celebration; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will host |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | its special Mother's Day celebration to honor the remarkable |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | women who have embodied the highest virtues of responsible and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | loving parenting, and who have dedicated their time and energy to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | serving their families and ministering to the physical, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | emotional, and spiritual needs of their descendants; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Golden Mothers Maggie Neal, 96 years old, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Carrie Allyson, 93 years old, exemplify strength, perseverance, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and wisdom to their younger spiritual sisters, and Platinum |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Mother Addie Edwards, 84 years old, is a source of light and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | wisdom to newer mothers in her congregation; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Bobbie Blakemore, 78, recipient of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Great-Grandmother Award, raises her three great-grandchildren; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | she feeds, bathes, and clothes them, takes them to school, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | makes sure that they attend church and participate in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | extracurricular activities; Janice Evans, 83, is a mother, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | grandmother, and great-grandmother who helps care for her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Bobbie Rockmore is a grandmother who helps her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | daughter care for Bobbie's special-needs grandson, and Brenda |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Davis, 72, cares for her grandchildren when her daughter is at |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | work; Nancy Pearl, 71, Anna Chappell, 72, and Alice Cleavery, 80, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | also are loving mothers and inspirational figures to the church |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | mothers; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, These illustrious women of faith have labored |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | tirelessly and sacrificed selflessly for the good of the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | generations that came after them, and it is indeed fitting that |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | they receive special recognition for empowering later |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | generations of women to be capable and strong mothers through |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | their individual testimonies; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend the outstanding elder mothers of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for imparting invaluable |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | lessons to their loved ones and extend to all in the congregation |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | best wishes for a memorable and rewarding Mother's Day |

| 41 | 41 | | celebration; and, be it further |

| 42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
