11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 547
22 WHEREAS, A number of future leaders have provided
33 indispensable support as participants in the Texas Legislative
44 Internship Program during the 88th Legislative Session; and
55 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Internship Program was
66 established by State Senator Rodney Ellis in December 1990,
77 and it is administered by Texas Southern University; the
88 program provides students from Texas colleges and universities
99 with a unique opportunity to serve as interns in the Texas
1010 Legislature, the United States Congress, and a variety of
1111 local, state, and national government agencies and public
1212 policy organizations; and
1313 WHEREAS, Students receive academic credit for
1414 participating in the program, which combines academic study and
1515 research with supervised practical training; as interns, they
1616 gain firsthand knowledge of the governmental process and work
1717 experience in a political environment, as well as insight into
1818 the issues facing our communities and our state today; and
1919 WHEREAS, This year's participants in the Texas Legislative
2020 Internship Program are Abigayle Abel, Alaina Dixon, Alexandria
2121 Gonzalez, Amajah Hall, Aylin Murillo, Chloe Hancock, Christopher
2222 Shafik, Claudia Cuellar, Cornelius Sabastian Berry, Courtney
2323 A. Doucet, D'Angelo Colter, David Freid, Dayleen Chery, DeAndre
2424 Jackson, Destiny Montemayor, Eraneshia Mims, Faris Husain,
2525 Franklin Achonye, Hawani Adugna, Jesha Magee, Jessica Fuqua,

2727 Marty Scott, Melissa Williams, Monique Dunbar, Natoya Inglis,

3232 WHEREAS, Through the diligence and resourcefulness that they
3333 have demonstrated while performing a multitude of tasks, these
3434 admirable young men and women have contributed significantly to the
3535 offices they have served and, in turn, to the constituents who
3636 reside in their districts; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3838 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Legislative
3939 Internship Program Class of the 88th Legislature for their
4040 excellent work and extend to them best wishes for the future;
4141 and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4343 prepared for the class as an expression of high regard from the
4444 Texas Senate.
