	6	+	WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a spiritual
	7	+	practice rooted in ancient Chinese culture and Buddhist traditions,
	8	+	which millions of people around the world have incorporated into
	9	+	their lives; and
	10	+	WHEREAS, In 1992, Falun Dafa was introduced to the public in
	11	+	China by founder Li Hongzhi; by the end of the decade, it had
8	12		attracted around 100 million followers, and today it is practiced
9	13		in more than 70 countries across the globe; and
10	14		WHEREAS, Falun Dafa emphasizes the attainment of spiritual
11		-	growth through the study of Falun Dafa teachings and through
12		-	gentle exercises and meditation; its teachings encourage
13		-	learners to let go of unhealthy attachments as they strive to
14		-	attune their lives to the universal qualities of truth,
15		-	compassion, and forbearance; and

26		-	dozen practice sites have been established within the state;

28		-	Texans by sharing their beliefs and practices through workshops,
29		-	clubs, and cultural events; and
30		-	WHEREAS, Followers of Falun Dafa constitute an important
31		-	part of the diverse cultural fabric of Texas, and Falun Dafa Day
32		-	provides a fitting opportunity to recognize their inspiring
33		-	devotion to the teachings of their faith and to the ideals of
34		-	peace and freedom; now, therefore, be it
35		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
36		-	Legislature, hereby recognize May 13, 2023, as Falun Dafa Day and
37		-	extend sincere best wishes to all practitioners of Falun Dafa who
38		-	call our state home.
