26 WHEREAS, Tommy Wayne Engelke is retiring as executive vice
3- president of the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council on June
4- 30, 2023, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the

610 WHEREAS, Raised on a Kingsbury-area farm, Tommy Engelke
711 participated in livestock shows as a youth and graduated from
812 Luling High School, where he was FFA president and a member of the
9- state's top FFA dairy cattle judging team; he was also president
10- of the FFA Work Experience Abroad program; continuing his
11- education at Texas A&M University, he earned an agronomy degree
12- and a master's degree in agricultural communications and was
13- national student president of the Soil Conservation Society of
14- America; and

1518 WHEREAS, Mr. Engelke became a trainee for the Soil
1619 Conservation Service in Seguin in 1974 and in Gonzales the
1720 following year, and he went on to join the Rice Council for market
1821 development in Houston; in 1977, he joined Texas Farm Credit,
1922 working for CoBank and then the Farm Credit Bank of Texas; and
2023 WHEREAS, In 1989, Mr. Engelke launched his career with the
21- Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council, serving as associate
22- vice president before assuming the role of executive vice
23- president in 1996; traveling some 32,000 miles every year, he
24- makes field contacts with member organizations, speaks to
25- groups, and facilitates business planning exercises; he further
26- contributes to his professional community as a Certified Crop
27- Adviser board member and as a former president of the National
28- Conference of State Cooperative Councils and Professional
29- Agricultural Workers of Texas; he has also served as chair of the
30- Texas Agriculture Council and the Texas Workforce Commission
31- Agricultural Services Advisory Council; and
24+ Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council, serving as associate vice
25+ president before assuming the role of executive vice president in
26+ 1996; traveling some 32,000 miles every year, he makes field
27+ contacts with member organizations, speaks to groups, and

3235 WHEREAS, Tommy Engelke's leadership, dedication, and
3336 expertise have greatly benefited his fellow Texans, and he may
34- indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he embarks
35- on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
36- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37- Legislature, hereby congratulate Tommy Wayne Engelke on his
38- retirement as executive vice president of the Texas Agricultural
39- Cooperative Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
40- future; and, be it further
37+ indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he embarks on
38+ the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
39+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
40+ hereby congratulate Tommy Wayne Engelke on his retirement as
41+ executive vice president of the Texas Agricultural Cooperative
42+ Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
43+ be it further
