SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 562
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Diorene Thomas on the grand occasion of her 80th
birthday on May 13, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Diorene Thomas was born in 1943 in Dallas to
Elijah "Jack" Thomas and Ruby Lee Robinson; the eldest of six
children, Diorene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961; and
WHEREAS, A woman of great virtue, talent, and grace,
Diorene is an exemplary citizen who has dedicated her life to
faithfully serving her community and nurturing her many loved
ones; she has been a member of the Singing Hills Neighborhood
Association for more than 40 years, and she retired from her
position with Bank of America in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving spirit, Diorene is a valued
member of her church ministry and has served with several
auxiliaries of the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church,
including the usher board, Season Vessel board, Bereavement
Ministry, and the Loving Care committee; and
WHEREAS, Diorene has been a devoted mother to her four
children, and her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren
have enriched her life immeasurably; Diorene and her family may
take great pride in her generous nature and many achievements,
and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for reaching
this important milestone in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby recognize Diorene Thomas as a treasured
Texas citizen and extend to her congratulations on the occasion
of her 80th birthday and best wishes for a memorable and joyful
birthday celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this special day.
