| 5 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Diorene Thomas was born in 1943 in Dallas to |

| 6 | 10 | | Elijah "Jack" Thomas and Ruby Lee Robinson; the eldest of six |

| 7 | 11 | | children, Diorene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961; and |
|---|
| 8 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A woman of great virtue, talent, and grace, |
|---|
| 9 | 13 | | Diorene is an exemplary citizen who has dedicated her life to |
|---|
| 10 | 14 | | faithfully serving her community and nurturing her many loved |
|---|
| 11 | 15 | | ones; she has been a member of the Singing Hills Neighborhood |
|---|
| 12 | 16 | | Association for more than 40 years, and she retired from her |
|---|
| 13 | 17 | | position with Bank of America in 2011; and |
|---|
| 14 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving spirit, Diorene is a valued |
|---|
| 15 | 19 | | member of her church ministry and has served with several |
|---|
| 16 | 20 | | auxiliaries of the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church, |
|---|
| 17 | 21 | | including the usher board, Season Vessel board, Bereavement |
|---|
| 18 | 22 | | Ministry, and the Loving Care committee; and |
|---|
| 19 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Diorene has been a devoted mother to her four |
|---|
| 20 | 24 | | children, and her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren |
|---|
| 21 | 25 | | have enriched her life immeasurably; Diorene and her family may |
|---|
| 22 | 26 | | take great pride in her generous nature and many achievements, |
|---|
| 23 | 27 | | and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for reaching |
|---|
| 24 | 28 | | this important milestone in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 26 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Diorene Thomas as a treasured |
|---|
| 27 | 31 | | Texas citizen and extend to her congratulations on the occasion |

| 28 | 32 | | of her 80th birthday and best wishes for a memorable and joyful |
