| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of a treasured young Texan, Keren Ella Shalom |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Leal, who passed away on January 5, 2023, at the age of 12; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A bright light in the lives of those around her, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Keren Leal was born on May 17, 2010, in Georgetown; known to her |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | friends and family as Ella, she brought joy to each person whose |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | life she touched and was adored by all who knew her; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ella was the beloved daughter of Janis and Roland |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Leal and the youngest of 10 children; a talented artist with a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | vivid imagination, she excelled at painting and drawing, and she |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | loved spending time outdoors exploring the natural world; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A devoted Christian, Ella had a compassionate |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | spirit that drew her to people and to animals, especially dogs and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | horses; she was known to her family as a dreamer with a strong sense |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of faith, which is reflected in her given names and their meanings, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | which include "God is my light" and "shining bright"; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ella approached the world with warmth and an open |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | heart, and she made friends everywhere she went; she was dearly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | cherished by her devoted parents and siblings and by her many |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | loving extended family members, and her presence was a source of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | immeasurable joy in each of their lives; she leaves behind |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | memories that will be forever treasured by her many loved ones |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |

| 31 | 31 | | family of Keren Ella Shalom Leal; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
