56 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
6- passing of Albina Ann Mages Schmitz of Gainesville on May 7,
7- 2023, at the age of 89; and
8- WHEREAS, The former Albina Mages was born to Joe and
9- Theresa Bayer Mages on February 15, 1934, in Muenster, and she
10- grew up with the companionship of six siblings, Clara, Henrietta,
11- Loreta, Norb, Louise, and Polly, and a half-brother, Edgar; she
12- graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1952, and she
13- went on to become a licensed cosmetologist and to work as a
14- hairdresser; and
15- WHEREAS, On May 30, 1955, she was joined in matrimony to
16- John H. Schmitz, with whom she shared a rewarding union that
17- spanned nearly five decades; she took great pride in her five
18- children, Joe, MaQuita, John, Steve, and the late Carmen Crowsey,
19- and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her
20- family grow to include seven grandchildren, Brandi, Tiffany,
21- Shelby, Suzanne, Kenadie, Victoria, and Nicholas, and five
22- great-grandchildren, Colton, Camryn, Lucy, Henry, and Sally; and

2424 Johnny's B-29 Club and Johnny's DX gas station for many years, and
2525 after the businesses were sold, she worked in a variety of jobs
2626 until her retirement; in her leisure hours, she enjoyed baking,
2727 making afghan blankets, and traveling, and she gave generously of
28- her time and talents as a volunteer foster grandparent; a woman
29- of strong faith, she was an active and longtime parishioner of

34- WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, Albina
35- Schmitz has left her family and friends with many cherished
36- memories, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts;
37- now, therefore, be it
38- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
39- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Albina Ann Mages
40- Schmitz and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her
41- passing; and, be it further

33+ WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, Albina Schmitz

38+ hereby pay tribute to the life of Albina Ann Mages Schmitz and

43- prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
44- this day, it do so in memory of Albina Schmitz.
