| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Nedra S. Kinerk on her outstanding service to the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | residents of McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley as a community |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | leader and volunteer; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Since 1990, Dr. Nedra Kinerk has served numerous |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | community organizations in McAllen and has dedicated her time to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | improving the quality of life for all residents of the city; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kinerk has worked extensively with Futuro |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | RGV, a group of volunteers who present information to area cities |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | about economic growth, educational opportunities, healthy |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | families, safe neighborhoods, and the importance of green |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | spaces, culture, and the arts; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Serving as the president of Futuro RGV for close |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to a decade, Dr. Kinerk has been instrumental in organizing local |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | events and creating a vibrant community atmosphere; during her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | leadership, the organization has hosted community fairs, school |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | board candidate forums, festivals, energy discussion panels, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | town hall events; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In 2022, Futuro RGV hosted candidate forums for a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | McAllen City Commission district, Republican and Democratic |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | forums for United States House districts, Texas State House and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Senate districts, and a Board of Education district; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Futuro RGV has also held candidate forums for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | several county elective offices and has hosted Rio Grande Valley |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Leader Interviews, an Immigration and Border Security Review, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and the 2020 Census Review; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kinerk has also led several other community |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | organizations; for her service to McAllen, she was named the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | city's Woman of the Year in 2014, and in 2020, she was inducted |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | into the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame and honored as the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | namesake and inaugural recipient of a citizenship award |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | presented by the mayor, city commissioners, and the City of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | McAllen; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her years of service, Dr. Kinerk has |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | created a positive impact in all of her endeavors; admired for |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | her distinguished leadership, Dr. Kinerk is a source of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | inspiration to the members of her community and to all who seek to |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | contribute to the public good; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Nedra S. Kinerk on her many years |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | of service to the people of McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley and |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | extend to her best wishes for success in all of her future |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
