5	5	WHEREAS, The life of a compassionate and dedicated
6	6	educator ended far too soon with the passing of Eva Mireles of
7	7	Uvalde on May 24, 2022, at the age of 44; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on March 17, 1978, Eva Mireles was
9	9	the daughter of Paula Mireles and the stepdaughter of Santiago
10	10	Moreno, and she grew up with two sisters, Maggie and Sandra; she
11	11	graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1996, before enrolling
12	12	at Sul Ross State University and obtaining her bachelor's degree
13	13	in interdisciplinary studies in 2003; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Ms. Mireles held a special education
15	15	certification, and throughout her nearly 17-year career, she was
16	16	passionate about providing a quality education to students of all
17	17	abilities; as a fourth grade teacher, she went above and beyond
18	18	to ensure the happiness and well-being of her students, and along
19	19	the way, she earned the heartfelt gratitude of many families in
20	20	her community; she found immense fulfillment in helping her
21	21	students succeed and was always proud to see them graduate; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Ms. Mireles was the
23	23	beloved wife of Ruben Ruiz Jr., and they were blessed with a
24	24	daughter, Adalynn; her favorite hobbies included CrossFit,
25	25	hiking, and karaoke, as well as spending time with her dog, Kane;
26	26	with her contagious smile and lively personality, she made every
27	27	gathering all the more fun for everyone; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Eva Mireles is profoundly missed by the many
29	29	people she left behind, and they will forever treasure their
30	30	memories of her kindness, her exuberance, and her devotion to her
31	31	family and to her students; now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
33	33	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Eva Mireles and
34	34	extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to
35	35	her husband, Ruben Ruiz Jr.; to her daughter, Adalynn C. Ruiz; to
36	36	her mother, Paula Mireles, and her stepfather, Santiago Moreno;
37	37	to her sisters, Maggie Mireles Thomas and Sandra Sanders; to her
38	38	mother-in-law, Cynthia Garza; to her aunts, uncles, nieces, and
39	39	nephews; and to the countless others in Uvalde and beyond who
40	40	mourn her passing; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
42	42	prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
43	43	this day, it do so in memory of Eva Mireles.
