6 | 6 | | the family and friends of Layla Marie Salazar of Uvalde, who |

7 | 7 | | passed away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 11; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Layla Salazar was born in Elgin, Illinois, on |

9 | 9 | | September 19, 2010, to Vincent Salazar III and Melinda Alejandro; |
---|
10 | 10 | | she enjoyed the companionship of two brothers, Julian and |
---|
11 | 11 | | Nicholas, and she was further cherished by her grandparents and |
---|
12 | 12 | | great-grandparents as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and |
---|
13 | 13 | | cousins; and |

14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Layla was a high-spirited young girl who took |

15 | 15 | | advantage of any opportunity to sing and dance; though energetic |

16 | 16 | | and sometimes rambunctious, she was also respectful of her |

17 | 17 | | elders, and she was the first to greet relatives, friends, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | guests who visited the family's home; her competitive nature |
---|
19 | 19 | | shined in many different activities such as swimming and running, |
---|
20 | 20 | | and she beamed with pride when she took home six first-place |
---|
21 | 21 | | ribbons from her school's field day; and |

22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although the passing of Layla Salazar is an |

23 | 23 | | incalculable loss to all those who held her dear, they may find |

24 | 24 | | comfort in knowing that their lives have been forever enriched by |
---|
25 | 25 | | the love, laughter, and kindness she shared with them; now, |

27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Layla Marie |
