| 5 | 5 | | Karabatsos, education foundations are structured as tax-exempt |

| 6 | 6 | | nonprofit organizations and managed by a volunteer board of |

| 7 | 7 | | directors representing local businesses and civic organizations; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the foundations share a common mission to support the school |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | systems they serve; and |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Among their many contributions, education |

| 11 | 11 | | foundations host various events to secure funds for a wide range |

| 12 | 12 | | of initiatives, including innovative classroom approaches, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | educator and student learning projects, and professional |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | development programs; they also connect school districts with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the wider community by creating partnerships with alumni, public |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | figures, parents, corporations, and philanthropists; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 2012, the Texas |

| 18 | 18 | | Education Foundation Network has helped local education |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | foundations provide networking opportunities, facilitate sharing |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of best practices, and provide training and resources; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Education foundations play an essential role in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | equipping school districts with the tools they need to succeed, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and in so doing, they are contributing immeasurably to the future |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend education foundations in Texas and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to all those associated with the organizations sincere |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | best wishes for continued success with their important work. |
