 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Daily Mile USA achieved a significant milestone
 on April 6, 2023, when the program reached an enrollment of one
 million participants; and
 WHEREAS, First introduced at a school in Scotland in 2012,
 the Daily Mile has since grown into a global initiative with more
 than three million children taking part all over the world,
 including one million American students across some 2,000 schools
 and daycares throughout the country; the program encourages
 children to engage in 15 minutes of outdoor exercise during the
 school day, helping to improve their physical, mental, emotional,
 and social health, as well as their academic performance; and
 WHEREAS, The Daily Mile has received formal backing from the
 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Youth Sports
 Strategy, the Society of Health and Physical Educators, and the
 children's mental health charity Erika's Lighthouse; in addition,
 it has partnerships with such organizations as Special Olympics
 Unified Schools, Mentors Who Move, and Move to Live More; and
 WHEREAS, The initiative is sponsored by INEOS, a global
 chemical, manufacturing, and energy company, that also supports a
 wide range of charitable endeavors in the fields of health,
 education, and conservation; and
 WHEREAS, The Daily Mile USA is helping children across the
 nation to develop healthy habits that will benefit them throughout
 their lives, and the program is indeed deserving of special
 recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby congratulate The Daily Mile USA on reaching an enrollment of
 one million participants and extend to all those associated with
 the initiative sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for The Daily Mile as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
