5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the legislative staff, these |

6 | 6 | | hardworking individuals--Kiana Cervantes in the office of State |

7 | 7 | | Senator Tan Parker, Jacob Leal in the office of State Senator |

8 | 8 | | Drew Springer Jr., and Lorena Morales in the office of State |

9 | 9 | | Representative Lynn Stucky--have provided vital assistance in |
---|
10 | 10 | | handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; in addition to |
---|
11 | 11 | | gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, they |
---|
12 | 12 | | have learned more about the legislative process and the issues |
---|
13 | 13 | | facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Kiana Cervantes graduated from UNT on May 15, |
---|
15 | 15 | | 2023, with a bachelor's degree in information science, and over |
---|
16 | 16 | | the course of her time at UNT, she received recognition on the |
---|
17 | 17 | | Dean's List and the President's List; she plans on earning a |
---|
18 | 18 | | master's degree in library science at UNT and hopes to one day be |
---|
19 | 19 | | an archivist for the U.S. National Archives and Records |
---|
20 | 20 | | Administration; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Leal is on track to graduate from UNT in the |
---|
22 | 22 | | summer of 2023 with a bachelor's degree in political science and |
---|
23 | 23 | | history and a minor in English; in the future, he hopes to work in |
---|
24 | 24 | | political journalism or to attend law school; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Lorena Morales is a junior at UNT, and she is |
---|
26 | 26 | | currently pursuing a degree in criminal justice; she has been |
---|
27 | 27 | | named to the Dean's List and the President's List; she previously |
---|
28 | 28 | | received an associate's degree from Weatherford College, and |
---|
29 | 29 | | following her graduation, she plans to work in the legal field; |
---|
30 | 30 | | and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, These noteworthy individuals have performed their |
---|
32 | 32 | | duties as legislative interns with skill and dedication, and they |
---|
33 | 33 | | are indeed deserving of special recognition for their fine work; |

34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby commend the University of North Texas |

37 | 37 | | interns for their outstanding contributions to the Texas |

38 | 38 | | Legislature and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |

39 | 39 | | success in all their endeavors; and, be it further |
