11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 613
22 WHEREAS, Three interns from the University of North Texas
33 have provided indispensable support to the Texas Legislature
44 during the 88th Legislative Session; and
55 WHEREAS, Since joining the legislative staff, these
66 hardworking individuals--Kiana Cervantes in the office of State
77 Senator Tan Parker, Jacob Leal in the office of State Senator
88 Drew Springer Jr., and Lorena Morales in the office of State
99 Representative Lynn Stucky--have provided vital assistance in
1010 handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; in addition to
1111 gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, they
1212 have learned more about the legislative process and the issues
1313 facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and
1414 WHEREAS, Kiana Cervantes graduated from UNT on May 15,
1515 2023, with a bachelor's degree in information science, and over
1616 the course of her time at UNT, she received recognition on the
1717 Dean's List and the President's List; she plans on earning a
1818 master's degree in library science at UNT and hopes to one day be
1919 an archivist for the U.S. National Archives and Records
2020 Administration; and
2121 WHEREAS, Jacob Leal is on track to graduate from UNT in the
2222 summer of 2023 with a bachelor's degree in political science and
2323 history and a minor in English; in the future, he hopes to work in
2424 political journalism or to attend law school; and
2525 WHEREAS, Lorena Morales is a junior at UNT, and she is
2626 currently pursuing a degree in criminal justice; she has been
2727 named to the Dean's List and the President's List; she previously
2828 received an associate's degree from Weatherford College, and
2929 following her graduation, she plans to work in the legal field;
3030 and
3131 WHEREAS, These noteworthy individuals have performed their
3232 duties as legislative interns with skill and dedication, and they
3333 are indeed deserving of special recognition for their fine work;
3434 now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3636 Legislature, hereby commend the University of North Texas
3737 interns for their outstanding contributions to the Texas
3838 Legislature and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
3939 success in all their endeavors; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That official copies of this Resolution be
4141 prepared for Ms. Cervantes, Mr. Leal, and Ms. Morales as an
4242 expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
