SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63 WHEREAS, Coach Glenn Griffin, who directed the Holliday High School girls' cross country team to the 2021 University Interscholastic League 3A state title, has been recognized for his outstanding leadership at the helm of the program; and WHEREAS, UIL director of athletics Dr. Susan Elza presented Coach Griffin with a state championship ring at the 2022 Texas Girls Coaches Association Honor Awards Banquet, held July 11 in Arlington; the ring commemorates the victory of the Holliday Lady Eagles at the UIL Cross Country State Championships on November 5, 2021; the title-winning performance followed a runner-up finish at the 2020 meet; and WHEREAS, Coach Griffin began his tenure with Holliday High in 2000; currently, he oversees girls' sports as athletic coordinator, and he is head coach for boys' cross country and girls' track; moreover, he is an assistant girls' basketball coach and a geometry instructor; in 1997, he began his teaching and coaching career at Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls; and WHEREAS, Glenn Griffin exemplifies the passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence that are the hallmarks of the best coaches, and he is indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby congratulate Coach Glenn Griffin of Holliday High School on his receipt of a state championship ring at the 2022 TGCA Honor Awards Banquet and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with the Holliday Independent School District; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Coach Griffin as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
