| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square in Graham celebrated the 100th |

| 7 | 7 | | anniversary of its opening in November 2021; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square traces its origins back to 1921, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | when P. A. Boaz, a Lebanese immigrant and entrepreneur, founded the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Boaz Department Store; over the years, the business grew to include |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | seven stores across Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Three of the original stores remained active after |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the Great Depression, and Mr. Boaz's grandson, Davey Donnell, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | eventually took over the business; today, Boaz on the Square sells |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | apparel, footwear, and accessories both in store and online; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Local businesses of long standing play a vital role |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | in the culture and economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | pleasure to honor Boaz on the Square for the contributions it has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | made to the Graham community over the past century; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |

| 22 | 22 | | hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Boaz on the Square and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | extend to all those associated with the enterprise sincere best |

| 24 | 24 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 26 | 26 | | prepared for Boaz on the Square as an expression of high regard by |
|---|
