SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 643
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff in the City
of Meridian in Bosque County; and
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Outlaw BBQ Association as one of
the organization's annual state championship cook-offs, the
National Championship Barbecue Cookoff is a highly anticipated
annual event that offers barbecue enthusiasts of all ages an
enjoyable day of heated competition and delicious seasoned and
smoked meats; and
WHEREAS, This popular community event attracts an
impressive lineup of talented chefs and pitmasters from across
Texas and other regions who exhibit their skills while competing
for top ranking in such categories as brisket, pork ribs, and
chicken; and
WHEREAS, In addition to providing a variety of excellent
food and spirited culinary competition, the cook-off offers
residents of Meridian and visitors from near and far the
opportunity to enjoy a day of family-friendly fun at Bosque
Bottoms and to share in this cherished community tradition; and
WHEREAS, The National Championship Barbecue Cookoff
contest is a fitting celebration of the tasty cuisine that is
such an integral part of Texas culture, and the cook-off is a
source of many fond memories for past attendees and is sure to
provide a fun and rewarding gathering for the residents of
Meridian and numerous visitors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby commend the organizers and participants of
the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff on their
contributions to the culinary flair of the Lone Star State and
extend to all of the event's attendees best wishes for a
memorable and successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
