2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff in the City
4	8		of Meridian in Bosque County; and
5		-	WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Outlaw BBQ Association as one of
6		-	the organization's annual state championship cook-offs, the

7	11		National Championship Barbecue Cookoff is a highly anticipated
8	12		annual event that offers barbecue enthusiasts of all ages an
9	13		enjoyable day of heated competition and delicious seasoned and
10	14		smoked meats; and
11	15		WHEREAS, This popular community event attracts an
12	16		impressive lineup of talented chefs and pitmasters from across
13	17		Texas and other regions who exhibit their skills while competing
14	18		for top ranking in such categories as brisket, pork ribs, and
15	19		chicken; and
16	20		WHEREAS, In addition to providing a variety of excellent
17	21		food and spirited culinary competition, the cook-off offers
18	22		residents of Meridian and visitors from near and far the
19	23		opportunity to enjoy a day of family-friendly fun at Bosque
20	24		Bottoms and to share in this cherished community tradition; and
21	25		WHEREAS, The National Championship Barbecue Cookoff
22	26		contest is a fitting celebration of the tasty cuisine that is
23	27		such an integral part of Texas culture, and the cook-off is a
24	28		source of many fond memories for past attendees and is sure to
25	29		provide a fun and rewarding gathering for the residents of
26	30		Meridian and numerous visitors; now, therefore, be it
27	31		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
28	32		Legislature, hereby commend the organizers and participants of
29	33		the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff on their
30	34		contributions to the culinary flair of the Lone Star State and
31	35		extend to all of the event's attendees best wishes for a
32	36		memorable and successful event; and, be it further
33	37		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
34	38		honor of this special occasion.
