11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 650
22 WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Council for Life has
33 served as a source of compassionate guidance to individuals who
44 are navigating the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy; and
55 WHEREAS, In 2001, Council for Life was founded by a group
66 of 11 women, Ann Carruth, Judy Ferguson, Elaine Harman, Bette
77 Hoag, Sue Justice, Suzanne Nash, Sarah Perot, Janet
88 Quisenberry, Kim Rozell, Jill G. Smith, and Lisa Troutt; the
99 organization has since grown to more than 1,500 members and
1010 raised over $12 million to benefit more than 70 pro-life
1111 agencies, with funding going toward pregnancy resource
1212 centers, adoption and foster care services, maternity homes,
1313 post-abortion support and healing, parenting and life skills
1414 education, youth and college mentoring, and other
1515 life-affirming initiatives and agencies; and
1616 WHEREAS, Council for Life's mission is to empower women,
1717 men, and youth to make life-affirming choices; to that end, the
1818 organization educates the community about the complex issues
1919 that surround unplanned pregnancies and the many resources
2020 available to mothers, babies, and families; and
2121 WHEREAS, Since its inception, Council for Life has been
2222 committed to its core values, endeavoring to educate the public
2323 but not to legislate or take a political stance; Council for Life
2424 has helped provide hope and healing to countless people in need,
2525 and the organization's remarkable success is a testament to the
2626 dedication of its members; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2828 Legislature, hereby honor Council for Life on its achievements
2929 and extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere
3030 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
3232 prepared for Council for Life as an expression of high regard
3333 from the Texas Senate.
