2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Council for Life has |

3 | 3 | | served as a source of compassionate guidance to individuals who |

4 | 4 | | are navigating the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy; and |
---|
5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In 2001, Council for Life was founded by a group |
---|
6 | 6 | | of 11 women, Ann Carruth, Judy Ferguson, Elaine Harman, Bette |
---|
7 | 7 | | Hoag, Sue Justice, Suzanne Nash, Sarah Perot, Janet |
---|
8 | 8 | | Quisenberry, Kim Rozell, Jill G. Smith, and Lisa Troutt; the |
---|
9 | 9 | | organization has since grown to more than 1,500 members and |
---|
10 | 10 | | raised over $12 million to benefit more than 70 pro-life |
---|
11 | 11 | | agencies, with funding going toward pregnancy resource |
---|
12 | 12 | | centers, adoption and foster care services, maternity homes, |
---|
13 | 13 | | post-abortion support and healing, parenting and life skills |
---|
14 | 14 | | education, youth and college mentoring, and other |
---|
15 | 15 | | life-affirming initiatives and agencies; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Council for Life's mission is to empower women, |
---|
17 | 17 | | men, and youth to make life-affirming choices; to that end, the |
---|
18 | 18 | | organization educates the community about the complex issues |
---|
19 | 19 | | that surround unplanned pregnancies and the many resources |
---|
20 | 20 | | available to mothers, babies, and families; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, Council for Life has been |
---|
22 | 22 | | committed to its core values, endeavoring to educate the public |
---|
23 | 23 | | but not to legislate or take a political stance; Council for Life |
---|
24 | 24 | | has helped provide hope and healing to countless people in need, |
---|
25 | 25 | | and the organization's remarkable success is a testament to the |
---|
26 | 26 | | dedication of its members; now, therefore, be it |
---|
27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby honor Council for Life on its achievements |
---|
29 | 29 | | and extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere |
---|
30 | 30 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
---|
32 | 32 | | prepared for Council for Life as an expression of high regard |
---|
