 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dustin Marshall is concluding his tenure on the
 board of the Dallas Independent School District in 2023, following
 seven years of exemplary service; and
 WHEREAS, First elected to represent District 2 in 2016,
 Mr. Marshall has brought to his role a deep commitment to education
 reform, a strong focus on research and analysis, and a willingness
 to listen to all stakeholders; his perspectives have been informed
 by years of experience volunteering in behalf of education as a
 tutor, consultant, and fundraiser; he guided his Leadership Dallas
 class in its decision to build STEM-based "Maker Spaces" in four
 high schools; moreover, he worked with the Woodrow Wilson High
 School Community Foundation to open a new reading center, and he
 served as a member of the foundation's board; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Marshall has also given generously of his time
 and talents to the boards of such organizations as Reading Partners
 North Texas, Dallas Afterschool, and Uplift Education; in addition,
 he has been a member of the Education and Workforce Council of the
 Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as Texas Lyceum, the
 Mayor's Task Force on Poverty, Entrepreneurs for North Texas, and
 many other civic groups; he is a recipient of the Dallas Business
 Journal's "40 Under 40" award and an alumnus of the Presidential
 Leadership Scholars Program, where he received training from
 several former U.S. presidents and their senior advisors; and
 WHEREAS, The CEO of Hazel's Hot Shot, an expedited freight
 and logistics company, Mr. Marshall joined the firm in 2011;
 previously, he was employed by a top global consultancy, Bain &
 Company; as a manager in its Chicago office, he led global
 consulting teams in their work with Fortune 500 companies; he holds
 a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School at the
 University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in business
 administration from the Kellogg School of Management at
 Northwestern University; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Marshall is a resident of the Preston Hollow
 neighborhood; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the support and
 encouragement of his wife, Denise; they are the proud parents of
 four children, Lilianna, Jackson, Hailey, and Madelyn; and
 WHEREAS, Through his dedication to the betterment of public
 education, Dustin Marshall has greatly benefited Dallas ISD and the
 community it serves, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
 outstanding contributions; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby honor Dustin Marshall for his service as a trustee of the
 Dallas Independent School District and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
