5	5	WHEREAS, The family and friends of Chief Warrant Officer
6	6	III Dustin Lee Mortenson of League City suffered an immeasurable
7	7	loss with the death of this courageous Texan on December 28,
8	8	2016, at the age of 32; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Dustin Mortenson was born on February 6, 1984; he
10	10	joined the U.S. Army in April 2003, and he completed Warrant
11	11	Officer Candidate School in Fort Rucker, Alabama; he trained to
12	12	become an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and maintenance test
13	13	pilot, and he was deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Yugoslavia,
14	14	Kosovo, and Germany; and
15	15	WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Chief Warrant Officer
16	16	Mortenson was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 149th Aviation
17	17	Regiment, 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National
18	18	Guard; in recognition of his dedicated service, he received three
19	19	Army Commendation Medals, the Kosovo Campaign Service Medal with
20	20	Bronze Service Star, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two
21	21	stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two stars, two NATO Medals,
22	22	three Overseas Service Ribbons, the Global War on Terrorism
23	23	Medal, the Air Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, and the
24	24	Senior Army Aviation Badge; and
25	25	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Mortenson enjoyed the
26	26	love and support of his wife, Ruth, and their children; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S.
28	28	armed forces, Dustin Mortenson inspired others with his
29	29	fortitude, tenacity, and dedication, and his fellow Americans
30	30	owe him a debt that the passage of time can never diminish;
31	31	now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
33	33	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and service of Chief
34	34	Warrant Officer III Dustin Lee Mortenson and extend deepest
35	35	condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further
36	36	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
37	37	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
38	38	this day, it do so in memory of Dustin Mortenson.
