44 SENATE RESOLUTION
55 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
66 Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, That Senate Rule 12.03 be
77 suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the
88 conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on
99 Senate Bill 1893 (prohibiting the use of certain social media
1010 applications and services on devices owned or leased by
1111 governmental entities) to consider and take action on the
1212 following matters:
1313 (1) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the
1414 committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in
1515 disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section
1616 620.001(1)(B), Government Code, by striking "by executive order"
1717 and substituting "by proclamation".
1818 Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure the proper
1919 method by which the governor specifies a social media application
2020 as a covered application.
2121 (2) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the
2222 committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in
2323 disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section
2424 620.001(2)(B), Government Code, between "a court of appeals,"
2525 and "or the Texas Judicial Council", by inserting "a district
2626 court,".
2727 Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure that
2828 district courts comply with the Act.
2929 (3) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the
3030 committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in
3131 disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in the heading to
3232 added Section 620.005, Government Code, by striking "ORDER" and
3333 substituting "PROCLAMATION".
3434 Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure the proper
3535 method by which the governor specifies a social media application
3636 as a covered application.
3737 (4) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the
3838 committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in
3939 disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section
4040 620.005, Government Code, by striking "executive order" and
4141 substituting "proclamation".
4242 Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure the proper
4343 method by which the governor specifies a social media application
4444 as a covered application.
