55 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew
66 to a close with the passing of Mitchel A. McCormick of Harlingen
77 on July 15, 2022, at the age of 69; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of William "Mac" and Mary McCormick, Mitch
99 McCormick was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, on January 2, 1953,
1010 and he grew up with the companionship of five brothers, Shelly,
1111 Wayne, Steve, John, and Bill; as part of a military family, he
1212 lived in a number of places around the world during his
1313 childhood, and he graduated from Stuttgart American High School
1414 in Germany in 1971; and
1515 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty,
1616 Mr. McCormick served in the U.S. Army for nine years, including
1717 more than five years as a member of the Honor Guard in Washington,
1818 D.C.; he climbed the ranks to become senior soloist on the Honor
1919 Guard's traveling drill team, and he went on to serve in a
2020 mechanized infantry unit in Germany for over three years; and
2121 WHEREAS, After receiving an honorable discharge,
2222 Mr. McCormick held a variety of jobs before starting his career
2323 with Domino's Pizza as a franchise area leader, and through the
2424 years, he became the owner of six stores; during more than three
2525 decades as a franchisee with the company, he ably led some of the
2626 highest-grossing stores in the country; and
2727 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. McCormick was devoted to his
2828 family; he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Penni, and
2929 he took immense pride in his sons, Travis, Lance, Davis, and
3030 Colin; in his leisure hours, Mr. McCormick enjoyed reading,
3131 visiting the beach, spending time with his family, and traveling
3232 with his Stuttgart friends; and
3333 WHEREAS, While the passing of Mitch McCormick brings great
3434 sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long
3535 be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3737 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mitchel
3838 A. McCormick and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his
3939 family: to his wife, Penni; to his sons, Travis McCormick and his
4040 wife, Elizabeth, Lance McCormick, Davis Eubanks, and Colin
4141 Eubanks; to his siblings, Wayne McCormick and his wife, Delores,
4242 Shelly McCormick, and Steve McCormick and his wife, Sandra; and
4343 to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4545 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4646 this day, it do so in memory of Mitch McCormick.
