7 | 7 | | committees, of state agencies, and of institutions of higher |

8 | 8 | | education, legal resources, and periodicals, the library is well |

9 | 9 | | positioned to support the varied and extensive work of |

11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The library's electronic data systems expedite |

12 | 12 | | the delivery of knowledge to the legislative community; the Texas |

13 | 13 | | Appointment System contains information on members of state |
---|
14 | 14 | | councils, boards, and committees appointed by the governor, |
---|
15 | 15 | | lieutenant governor, and speaker; the Legislative Archive System |

16 | 16 | | holds the only electronic version of original legislative bill |

17 | 17 | | files and documentation, while the Index to Sections Affected |

18 | 18 | | details the proposed statutory effect of bills; moreover, the |
---|
19 | 19 | | library maintains Texas Legislators: Past & Present, a database |

20 | 20 | | highlighting legislative membership information from 1846 to |
---|
21 | 21 | | today, as well as a legislative reports database covering that |

22 | 22 | | same period, and it archives gubernatorial executive orders, |

23 | 23 | | messages, and proclamations; and |

24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, During legislative sessions, the library plays an |

25 | 25 | | integral part in the legislative process; staff members develop |

26 | 26 | | electronic records in the Texas Legislative Tracking System for |

27 | 27 | | each bill or resolution filed, assign and enter subject terms and |
---|
28 | 28 | | companion relationships, and review enrolled legislation for |
---|
29 | 29 | | effective dates of each measure; moreover, library staff members |

30 | 30 | | stationed on the floor of the house and senate chambers enter |
---|
31 | 31 | | legislative actions as they occur and furnish real-time |

32 | 32 | | information to the legislative community, executive agencies, |

33 | 33 | | and citizens of this state through such proprietary applications |

34 | 34 | | as TLIS (the Texas Legislative Information System) and TLO (Texas |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Among the services the library offers are a bill |

37 | 37 | | status hotline for constituents, professional and confidential |

38 | 38 | | research, a daily legislative clipping service, weekly listings |

39 | 39 | | of important journal articles, and monthly listings of |
---|
40 | 40 | | newsworthy additions to the library's collection; and |

41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Guided skillfully by director and librarian Mary |

42 | 42 | | L. Camp, the Legislative Reference Library staff includes |

58 | 58 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

59 | 59 | | Legislature, hereby honor the Legislative Reference Library and |

60 | 60 | | extend to the staff members sincere appreciation for their |
