55 WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Abel Blanco of El
66 Paso were deeply saddened by his passing on May 16, 2023, at the
77 age of 89; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Aristeo and Severa Blanco, Abel Blanco
99 was born December 11, 1933, and he grew up with the companionship
1010 of three siblings, Mary, Aristeo, and Oscar; and
1111 WHEREAS, Mr. Blanco was a veteran of the United States
1212 Navy, having served as a signalman from 1953 until 1957; in
1313 civilian life, he worked as an auto mechanic for the U.S. Postal
1414 Service for many years; he enjoyed spending his leisure hours
1515 maintaining his backyard for his family to enjoy, feeding his
1616 turtles, watching boxing matches, and painting ships and Native
1717 American art pieces, and he collected die-cast model cars, wind
1818 chimes, and Homies; and
1919 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Blanco benefited from
2020 the love and support of his wife, Guadalupe, who preceded him in
2121 death; he took great pride in his three children, Leticia, Norma,
2222 and Abel, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of
2323 seeing his family grow to include six grandchildren, Carlos,
2424 Joseph, Victoria, Eduardo, Evelyn, and Amy, and two
2525 great-grandchildren, Harper and Roland; and
2626 WHEREAS, Although Abel Blanco is greatly missed, those
2727 fortunate enough to have known him will remember the way he
2828 touched their lives with his remarkable kindness and delightful
2929 sense of humor, and they will forever hold him close in their
3030 hearts; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3232 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Abel Blanco and
3333 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3434 daughters, Leticia Blanco Aguirre and Norma Blanco; to his son,
3535 Abel Blanco Jr., and his wife, Maricela; to his brothers, Aristeo
3636 Blanco and his wife, Eileen, and Oscar Blanco and his wife,
3737 Margaret; to his grandchildren, Carlos R. Aguirre, Joseph
3838 Aguirre and his wife, Liz, Victoria G. Molinar, Eduardo Ortiz and
3939 his wife, Nohely, Evelyn A. Blanco, and Amy E. Blanco; to his
4040 great-grandchildren, Harper C. Aguirre and Roland M.
4141 Aguirre-Silva; and to his other relatives and many friends; and,
4242 be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4545 this day, it do so in memory of Abel Blanco.
