6 | 6 | | Paso were deeply saddened by his passing on May 16, 2023, at the |

7 | 7 | | age of 89; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Aristeo and Severa Blanco, Abel Blanco |
---|
9 | 9 | | was born December 11, 1933, and he grew up with the companionship |
---|
10 | 10 | | of three siblings, Mary, Aristeo, and Oscar; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Blanco was a veteran of the United States |
---|
12 | 12 | | Navy, having served as a signalman from 1953 until 1957; in |
---|
13 | 13 | | civilian life, he worked as an auto mechanic for the U.S. Postal |
---|
14 | 14 | | Service for many years; he enjoyed spending his leisure hours |
---|
15 | 15 | | maintaining his backyard for his family to enjoy, feeding his |
---|
16 | 16 | | turtles, watching boxing matches, and painting ships and Native |
---|
17 | 17 | | American art pieces, and he collected die-cast model cars, wind |
---|
18 | 18 | | chimes, and Homies; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Blanco benefited from |
---|
20 | 20 | | the love and support of his wife, Guadalupe, who preceded him in |
---|
21 | 21 | | death; he took great pride in his three children, Leticia, Norma, |
---|
22 | 22 | | and Abel, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of |
---|
23 | 23 | | seeing his family grow to include six grandchildren, Carlos, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Joseph, Victoria, Eduardo, Evelyn, and Amy, and two |
---|
25 | 25 | | great-grandchildren, Harper and Roland; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although Abel Blanco is greatly missed, those |
---|
27 | 27 | | fortunate enough to have known him will remember the way he |
---|
28 | 28 | | touched their lives with his remarkable kindness and delightful |
---|
29 | 29 | | sense of humor, and they will forever hold him close in their |
---|
30 | 30 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Abel Blanco and |
---|
33 | 33 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |

34 | 34 | | daughters, Leticia Blanco Aguirre and Norma Blanco; to his son, |
