No. 723 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For more than a decade, retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 Melissa Harcrow served her country with great distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; and WHEREAS, Melissa Harcrow enlisted in the U.S. Army as a unit supply specialist in July 2002, and during her career, she was assigned to army bases in Texas and Kentucky, completed an overseas tour in Korea, and deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Qatar; in 2011, she was commissioned as a warrant officer, and she served her final position as a property book officer for the 184th Explosive Ordnance Battalion in 2014; she received 23 decorations and a number of recognitions, including Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for Area Support Group Qatar; and WHEREAS, A native El Pasoan, Mrs. Harcrow is currently employed by the Texas Veterans Commission as the Women Veterans coordinator for West Texas; she has further demonstrated her tremendous commitment to supporting and assisting veterans and military personnel through her work as chair of the El Paso Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, as a member of El Paso Texas Women Veterans, and as the veterans engagement director for Team RWB El Paso, as well as through her membership in the Association of the United States Army, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Korean Defense Veterans Association; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jason Harcrow, and their three children, Taylor, Maya, and Austin; and WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Melissa Harcrow upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Chief Warrant Officer 2 Melissa Harcrow for her military service on the occasion of Women Veterans Day 2023 and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Chief Warrant Officer Harcrow as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
