2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, For more than a decade, retired Chief Warrant |

3 | 3 | | Officer 2 Melissa Harcrow served her country with great |

4 | 4 | | distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the |

5 | 5 | | observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting |
---|
6 | 6 | | opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; |

7 | 7 | | and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Melissa Harcrow enlisted in the U.S. Army as a |
---|
9 | 9 | | unit supply specialist in July 2002, and during her career, she |
---|
10 | 10 | | was assigned to army bases in Texas and Kentucky, completed an |
---|
11 | 11 | | overseas tour in Korea, and deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and |
---|
12 | 12 | | Qatar; in 2011, she was commissioned as a warrant officer, and |
---|
13 | 13 | | she served her final position as a property book officer for the |
---|
14 | 14 | | 184th Explosive Ordnance Battalion in 2014; she received 23 |
---|
15 | 15 | | decorations and a number of recognitions, including |
---|
16 | 16 | | Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for Area Support Group Qatar; |
---|
17 | 17 | | and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A native El Pasoan, Mrs. Harcrow is currently |
---|
19 | 19 | | employed by the Texas Veterans Commission as the Women Veterans |
---|
20 | 20 | | coordinator for West Texas; she has further demonstrated her |
---|
21 | 21 | | tremendous commitment to supporting and assisting veterans and |
---|
22 | 22 | | military personnel through her work as chair of the El Paso |
---|
23 | 23 | | Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, as a member of El Paso Texas |
---|
24 | 24 | | Women Veterans, and as the veterans engagement director for Team |
---|
25 | 25 | | RWB El Paso, as well as through her membership in the Association |
---|
26 | 26 | | of the United States Army, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the |
---|
27 | 27 | | Korean Defense Veterans Association; in all her endeavors, she |
---|
28 | 28 | | enjoys the love and support of her husband, Chief Warrant Officer |
---|
29 | 29 | | 3 Jason Harcrow, and their three children, Taylor, Maya, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | Austin; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Melissa Harcrow |
---|
32 | 32 | | upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, |
---|
33 | 33 | | demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and |

34 | 34 | | her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, |

36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend Chief Warrant Officer 2 Melissa |
