11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 723
22 WHEREAS, For more than a decade, retired Chief Warrant
33 Officer 2 Melissa Harcrow served her country with great
44 distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the
55 observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting
66 opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career;
77 and
88 WHEREAS, Melissa Harcrow enlisted in the U.S. Army as a
99 unit supply specialist in July 2002, and during her career, she
1010 was assigned to army bases in Texas and Kentucky, completed an
1111 overseas tour in Korea, and deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and
1212 Qatar; in 2011, she was commissioned as a warrant officer, and
1313 she served her final position as a property book officer for the
1414 184th Explosive Ordnance Battalion in 2014; she received 23
1515 decorations and a number of recognitions, including
1616 Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for Area Support Group Qatar;
1717 and
1818 WHEREAS, A native El Pasoan, Mrs. Harcrow is currently
1919 employed by the Texas Veterans Commission as the Women Veterans
2020 coordinator for West Texas; she has further demonstrated her
2121 tremendous commitment to supporting and assisting veterans and
2222 military personnel through her work as chair of the El Paso
2323 Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, as a member of El Paso Texas
2424 Women Veterans, and as the veterans engagement director for Team
2525 RWB El Paso, as well as through her membership in the Association
2626 of the United States Army, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the
2727 Korean Defense Veterans Association; in all her endeavors, she
2828 enjoys the love and support of her husband, Chief Warrant Officer
2929 3 Jason Harcrow, and their three children, Taylor, Maya, and
3030 Austin; and
3131 WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Melissa Harcrow
3232 upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces,
3333 demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and
3434 her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now,
3535 therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3737 Legislature, hereby commend Chief Warrant Officer 2 Melissa
3838 Harcrow for her military service on the occasion of Women
3939 Veterans Day 2023 and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
4040 future; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4242 prepared for Chief Warrant Officer Harcrow as an expression of
4343 high regard from the Texas Senate.
