SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 726
WHEREAS, Athletes from the El Paso Special Needs Athletic
Group 915 Stars achieved great distinction with their
exceptional performances in the soccer competition and
individual events at the Special Olympics Texas 2023 Summer
Games, held in San Antonio from May 18 to 21; and
WHEREAS, The Group 915 Stars offer individuals with special
needs who are out of the school system the opportunity to continue
playing sports within the Special Olympics framework; and
WHEREAS, Joining other talented competitors from across
Texas, a Group 915 Stars soccer team finished at the top of the
Group A standings to claim the gold medal and the No. 1 ranking in
the state; in addition, a second Stars soccer squad earned first
place in Group D, and two athletes collected medals in individual
events; and
WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the 2023 Summer Games,
the members of the Group 915 Stars have become a source of great
pride to their families and to their community, and they are
indeed deserving of recognition for the skill and dedication they
have demonstrated; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby congratulate the El Paso Special Needs
Athletic Group 915 Stars on their medal-winning performances in
soccer and other competitions at the Special Olympics Texas 2023
Summer Games and extend to the athletes and coaches sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for the Group 915 Stars as an expression of high regard
from the Texas Senate.
