2	2	WHEREAS, It is with great pride that the Texas Senate
3	3	honors one of its most loyal and respected staff members, Austin
4	4	Osborn, by naming him the 2023 administrative recipient of the
5	5	Betty King Public Service Award; and
6	6	WHEREAS, A longtime staff member of the Texas Senate and
7	7	the currently serving sergeant-at-arms, Austin Osborn has
8	8	faithfully served as a Senate employee for more than two decades;
9	9	first employed as a messenger with the Sergeant-at-Arms' Office,
10	10	Austin served as an administrative aide to the secretary of the
11	11	Senate for several years before becoming Senate doorkeeper; he
12	12	took on the additional role of assistant sergeant-at-arms in 2016
13	13	before beginning his service as sergeant-at-arms in 2021; he
14	14	exemplifies the best in Senate service, and through his highly
15	15	effective leadership, uncompromising work ethic, and encouraging
16	16	attitude, he consistently brings out the best in those who serve
17	17	with him and is a source of inspiration to others; and
18	18	WHEREAS, The responsibilities managed by the
19	19	sergeant-at-arms are critical to the legislative process, and as
20	20	an elected officer of the Texas Senate, Austin upholds the
21	21	highest standards for professionalism, attentiveness, courtesy,
22	22	and respect for tradition; in his role as sergeant-at-arms, he
23	23	maintains order and decorum in the Senate Chamber and ensures the
24	24	security of senators, staff, and members of the public during
25	25	legislative sessions; in addition, he oversees his office's
26	26	numerous employees, which include assistant sergeants, car
27	27	guards, porters, and messengers; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Austin has consistently carried out his work
29	29	with dedication and enthusiasm, and he is greatly respected
30	30	and admired by members of the Senate and by Senate staff; he
31	31	has a sincere appreciation for the importance of his position,
32	32	and he is noted for the diligence and care with which he
33	33	performs the duties of his role as well as for his warm and
34	34	welcoming demeanor and his willingness to assist others in
35	35	whatever way possible; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Austin is beloved by his colleagues and is held in
37	37	highest regard by legislators and by staff members throughout the
38	38	Capitol; he is an indispensable asset to the Senate and is an
39	39	integral part of maintaining the dignity, comportment, and respect
40	40	befitting of the Senate Chamber and the Texas Legislature; he sets
41	41	a standard for excellence in his devoted service to the Texas
42	42	Senate, and he is most deserving of his selection for a Betty King
43	43	Public Service Award; now, therefore, be it
44	44	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
45	45	Legislature, hereby commend Austin Osborn on his invaluable
46	46	service to the Texas Senate and extend to him congratulations
47	47	on earning the 2023 Betty King Public Service Award; and, be it
48	48	further
49	49	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
50	50	him as an expression of highest esteem from the Texas Senate.
