| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Paramedic Joel Bartlett of the Wise County Office of |

| 7 | 7 | | Emergency Management has been named the recipient of a Life Saving |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Medal in recognition of his role in providing medical assistance to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | two Fort Worth residents involved in a vehicle accident; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, On February 2, 2022, Joel Bartlett responded to a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | traffic incident in which a car lost control on an iced-over bridge |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and plunged into the Trinity River; the passenger was pulled from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the vehicle by a witness, and the driver remained trapped in the car |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | when it sank; a Wise County swift water technician swam into the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | frigid river and extracted the man from the vehicle; Mr. Bartlett |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | helped provide lifesaving assistance on the shore, and the man |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | rescued from the submerged car was transported to a hospital and is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | expected to fully recover; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Every day, the first responders of Texas are called |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to the aid of individuals in need, and through his swift and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | decisive action in this critical situation, Joel Bartlett upheld |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the highest standards of his profession and helped to save the life |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of a fellow citizen; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | hereby congratulate Joel Bartlett of the Wise County Office of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Emergency Management on his receipt of a Life Saving Medal and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
