55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The Children's Hospital Association of Texas is
77 celebrating Children's Hospital Day on January 25, 2023; and
88 WHEREAS, Approximately one out of every ten children in the
99 United States lives in Texas, and it is imperative that these
1010 children have access to the highest level of comprehensive
1111 pediatric care in the country; and
1212 WHEREAS, The State of Texas has recognized Children's Health,
1313 the Children's Hospital of San Antonio, Cook Children's Medical
1414 Center, Driscoll Children's Hospital, El Paso Children's Hospital,
1515 Healthbridge Children's Hospital, Covenant Children's Hospital,
1616 Dell Children's Medical Center at Ascension Seton, Shriners
1717 Children's Texas, Texas Children's Hospital, and Scottish Rite for
1818 Children as "children's hospitals" for the purposes of the state
1919 Medicaid program; and
2020 WHEREAS, These comprehensive hospitals provide lifesaving
2121 care to children across the state and serve as safety nets for their
2222 families; the hospitals fund pediatric specialists and
2323 subspecialists, and as a result, all children have access to the
2424 care they need, regardless of their family's ability to pay; and
2525 WHEREAS, By providing high-quality pediatric care,
2626 children's hospitals are helping to ensure the health and
2727 well-being of countless young Texans, and they are indeed deserving
2828 of recognition for the vital role they play in the future of the
2929 Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
3131 hereby commemorate Children's Hospital Day on January 25, 2023, and
3232 commend the state's children's hospitals for their important work;
3333 and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for these outstanding institutions and for the Children's
3636 Hospital Association of Texas as an expression of high regard by the
3737 Texas Senate.
