55 SENATE RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
77 recognize Golden Soror Brenda Milus Thomas, a 50-year member of
88 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by
99 Omicron Mu Omega Chapter at its Founders' Day Luncheon on January
1010 28, 2023; and
1111 WHEREAS, Omicron Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
1212 Sorority was conceived in October of 1983 by five sorors who met
1313 to discuss the formation of a second graduate chapter in the
1414 Dallas area; after much dedicated effort, the chapter was
1515 established on June 23, 1984; it has an illustrious history of
1616 service and community work, and it annually recognizes
1717 long-standing sorority members at its Founders' Day Luncheon;
1818 and
1919 WHEREAS, Brenda was inducted into Theta Eta Chapter of
2020 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1973; over the years, she has
2121 remained a loyal member of the sorority and has served as a mentor
2222 and role model to countless sisters; and
2323 WHEREAS, Brenda is truly deserving of recognition for her
2424 longtime membership in and service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
2525 and for the important role she has played in helping to encourage
2626 leadership, scholarship, personal development, and community
2727 service through the programs of Omicron Mu Omega Chapter; now,
2828 therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3030 Legislature, hereby commend Golden Soror Brenda Milus Thomas on
3131 her dedicated service and her many achievements and extend to her
3232 congratulations on being honored by Omicron Mu Omega Chapter of
3333 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at its 2023 Founders' Day Luncheon;
3434 and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
